Quality Management
ISO 9001
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) officially defined international standards for quality management systems. In 1994, Peter Greven was one of the first middle-sized chemical companies to establish a quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001.
Our quality management system is continuously improved and regularly audited by the German organisation DQS. The main focus of further improving the system is the inclusion of the employees and the consistent implementation of digital solutions for all management tasks.
Environmental Management
ISO 14001
DIN EN ISO 14001 is the official ISO standard for the environmental management system. The standard is internally and externally used as the basis for so called environmental audits where the effectiveness and implementation of environmental management systems in companies are assessed. Our environmental management is certified since 1994 as well.
We constantly develop our environmental management system and are audited by the DQS on a regular basis. The primary emphasis is on specific measures, a clear organisational and operational structure, trained and environmentally aware personnel as well as transparent internal and external information on corporate environmental protection.
Energy Management
ISO 50001
Energy management is a suitable way of increasing energy efficiency in companies and organisations on an ongoing basis. Through the achievable cost relief, it can strengthen the competitiveness of companies. With ISO 50001, an international standard for energy management has been established.
In 2014 we extended our existing quality and environmental management system by the integration of an energy management system according to ISO 50001. In day-to-day operations, our focus is on improving the energy performance, i.e. saving energy, improving energy efficiency, installing innovative technologies and, of course, reducing costs.

LuSC list
Site Bad Münstereifel
The Lubricant Substance Classification List (short: LuSC-list) is a list of substances and brands that have been assessed on its biodegradation, aquatic toxicity, renewability and exclusion lists of substances by a competent body. Your European Ecolabel process for lubricant formulations will be significant simplified by using substances found on the LuSC-list.

comply with the revised criteria according to EU Commission decision 2018/1702 from 08th of November 2018 and were added to the LuSC list. Therefore, they are particularly suitable for sustainable lubricant formulations.
NSF
Site Bad Münstereifel
NSF International is an independent organisation with the objective of developing public standards and certification programs. Those shall support the protection of food, water, consumer products and the environment worldwide.
One area of NSF's work, which is relevant for us as a producer of esters, is the certification of Non-food Compounds. Non-food Compounds are used during the production of food and beverage but are no foodstuffs themselves. As the products may have food contact during usage but are not manufactured according to the strict regulations of the food industry, NSF created a certification program for those components.
For our lubricants the category HX-1 is relevant. This category includes all products which can be used as ingredients in H1 lubricants (general incidental food contact possible).
We are pleased to tell you that our product portfolio does include esters which are certified according to the standards of NSF category HX-1:

RSPO Mass Balance

As part of our long-term orientation, we attach particular importance to sustainability, especially with regard to our vegetable raw material palm oil. Therefore, we became a member of RSPO in 2010. For further information on RSPO and our continuous development in this area check our sustainability page.
At our Life Science site in Venlo we offer RSPO Mass Balance (MB) certified products since 2013, at the site in Bad Münstereifel since 2015. An overview of our RSPO MB certified products can be found in our product finder.

RSPO Segregated
Site Venlo
As part of our long-term orientation, we attach particular importance to sustainability, especially with regard to our vegetable raw material palm oil. Therefore, we became a member of RSPO in 2010. Halal
Site Venlo
At our site in Venlo we only use vegetable raw materials. Since 2009, our magnesium and calcium stearates are certified by HALAL CONTROL.
Kosher
Site Venlo
At our site in Venlo we only use vegetable raw materials. The strict adherence to the comprehensive guidelines of the Orthodox Union (OU) is documented by our kosher certificate.
EXCiPACT
Site Venlo
EXCiPACT is a certification for excipients. It shall ensure that standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as well as standards of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) are met.
Due to our strict focus on the Life Science sector, our site in Venlo is officially certified according to EXCiPACT GMP / GDP since 2017.
FSSC 22000
Site Venlo
Due to globalisation of the food industry, supply chains become longer and more complex. Therefore, the danger of security-related incidents increases. Effective and harmonised food safety systems can guarantee security and suitability foodstuff throughout the supply chain. Therefore, ISO developed the FSSC 22000 (ISO 22000) standard.
As our site in Venlo fulfils all requirements of the Life Science sector we have been certified by FSSC 22000.
GMP+
Site Venlo
GMP means for " Good Manufacturing Practices". 1992 was the starting point of the current GMP+ Feed Certification Scheme. In the following, it developed through the integration of requirements in terms of quality management according to ISO, HACCP and other elements to form a fully-fledged certification system.
In 2013 we received the GMP+ certification for the feed industry.
COSMOS
Site Venlo
The COSMOS-standard signature is a consumer guarantee for organic and natural cosmetics and covers all aspects of the sourcing, manufacturing, marketing and control of cosmetic products in detail. For further information reg. the COSMOS-standard please visit: www.cosmos-standard.org.

Regulatory issues & product safety
The broad application possibilities of our products make a regular review and approval of different requirements necessary.
Those requirements are diverse and can include anything from the confirmation of indirect food contact, information on biodegradability or the biogenic share and listings in various inventories.
